Wilmslow to Alderley Edge (7.9 miles)
If you park in Wilmslow, follow the footpath by the railway line to Wilmslow High School and then turn left and cross over the bypass using the footbridge.. Take the footpath off Prestbury Road on the right further up from the recreation ground. Look for the footpath sign, otherwise you will end up in the recreation area. The first part of the walk is across flat farmland towards Big Brick Hill Farm. Exit the footpath and turn right at Heyes Lane. After a very short distance turn right onto the footpath. Follow the path until reaching a track and turn left. Cross Heyes Lane and continue along the footpath directly ahead to Hough Lane. Turn right at Hough Lane and left at Hough Green Farm. Continue a pleasant walk towards Mottram Road.
Cross Mottram Road and follow the delightful footpath up to Alderley Edge. This is a steep climb with great woodland views. Have a rest at the top of the hill and enjoy the view. Continue the route through to Windmill Wood and then down beautiful Artist's Lane. Turn right just before the A34 and follow the footpath behind the big houses into Alderley Edge and then back through Harden Park to the start of the walk.
