The Roaches to Lud's Church
This is a beautiful walk along The Roaches providing beautiful views from both sides of the ridge.
Park on the road in the parking bays just past Windygates Farm. Take the footpath past Rockhall and continue up to the ridge and turn left.
Follow the path to Doxey Pool and continue to Bearstone Rocks. Follow the paved path down to a small road and cross it going through the styal straight ahead. Immediately turn right after passing over the style and follow the path down the hill. This stretch of path can be very muddy in the winter and becomes quite difficult to navigate.
After just less than a mile you will reach the rather magical Lud's Church. There are some steep stones steps into the chasm.
Take the path left after exiting Lud's Church into open heathland and follow the hill around to the left. At the end of the hill take the footpath back towards the Roaches turning left and back up the hill. Follow this footpath back to the small road and turn right and follow the road back to the start of the walk.
